At the Red Crag workshop we design and create leather goods, turned wooden pieces and practical field objects with the intention of promoting an observant and interested relationship with the natural world.

We are based in Suffolk, UK where we draw on the rich history, traditions and landscapes of East Anglia. The name ‘Red Crag’ refers to the geological formation that is found along the Suffolk coast. The red crag contains millions of years worth of history within its layers. Fossilised sharks' teeth are commonly discovered, hence the one featured on the Red Crag logo.

All of the products we make are practical items that earn their place through being used. They are made to be shaped and weathered with age and time, developing patinas and softening as they are carried. Expect to see one off and small-batch leather and wooden goods for camping, walking, orienteering, dog walks and general time spent outdoors.

As well as making and selling products, we also write and gather notes on outdoors/rural crafts and skills, campcraft, fieldcraft, natural history, foraging, camp routines, woodwork, leatherwork and all manner of things that connect people to the natural landscape.
